These spinner patterns were originally tied for the Western Lakes area but will work anywhere. The brown spinner with it's dubbed body floats better in most conditions whereas the black spinner is best in calm conditions when fish can be touchy. This is a good fly for fish feeding on Caenids. It is a fairly good floater even though it sits low on the water. Fish will usually take, but presentation must be exact.
